James "Okie" Reeder, RM3c Mr. Reeder was a radio operator aboard the USS BUSH. He was assigned to BUSH for her entire life, having reported aboard at commissioning, May 10, 1943, and serving until her sinking on April 6, 1945. When he was not busy with his regular duties, he used his personal time to publish the ship's newsletter, "THE DAILY TWIG". This publication was a compilation of United Press and Associated Press stories that he decoded. |
